Anthony Cervino is a native of Western Pennsylvania, but was raised on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. In 1989 Cervino attended Pennsylvania State University to study poultry science. After three years - and finding some truth to the phrase, "for the birds" - he took time off to reflect on his future. Inspired by sculpture classes he had taken at Penn State, Cervino enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as an art major and completed his BFA in sculpture. In 1999 he relocated to Baltimore, Maryland and worked as Assistant Director of Exhibitions for the Maryland Institute, College of Art. Cervino decided to return to school and received an MFA in sculpture from Towson University in 2003. Upon graduation, Cervino served as Director of College Exhibitions at the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, DC from 2004-2006. Currently, Cervino is Assistant Professor of Art at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and maintains an active career as an exhibiting and practicing sculptor.
